Cuba denounces agricultural damage due to US economic blockade
Gustavo Rodríguez, Cuban Minister of Agriculture, denounced before the 41st session of the Conference of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, FAO, the damage caused to the agrifood sector by the US economic blockade.
The minister said the Cuban government strengthens food security through broad public policies, including the guarantee of basic food products at subsidized prices for the population.
Agricultural development is a cornerstone for Cuba’s present and future, with special attention to rural development programs in order to improve social, educational and cultural conditions with gender equity, the official said.
Cuba is strengthening the urban, suburban and family agriculture programs, as well as the municipal self-supply programs, projects to achieve a more organized, efficient and productive agriculture.
