Cuba calls for a mobilization for peace and against imperialist intervention in Latin America
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, called this Tuesday, in a press conference, for the United Nations (UN) to support the sovereignty of the Venezuelan people and not to allow under any circumstances intromission in the internal affairs of that nation, as well as the violation of international law.
“Less than a quarter of the states recognized by the UN interfere in the internal affairs of Venezuela. We have to separate propaganda from reality,” said the Foreign Minister.
Unilateral, and therefore illegal, measures are applied against the sister Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela; in addition, a great campaign of communication and politics is underway; generally they are the prelude to actions of greater importance for the U.S. government, explained Bruno Rodríguez.
Cuba calls for a mobilization for peace, against the intervention of the empire in Latin America, against war, over and above political or ideological differences. “In these circumstances you can only be in favor of peace or against war,” said the Foreign Minister.
“Trump said that socialism promises unity, but provokes hatred and division. Extraordinary cynicism, extraordinary hypocrisy. He is the representative of an amoral government,” Rodríguez said.
The head of Foreign Relations challenged the intimidation of Donald Trump in front of whom “we have decided to build” the base of nations in an independent and socialist manner.
“President Donald Trump is wrong, the future of Cuba is here. With or without additional blockade measures, the future of Cuba is decided by the Cubans,” Rodríguez Parrilla said.
“We are building our own course and preparing for a successful triumph in the coming days. We have written this new Constitution together and we will vote for it on February 24,” he ratified.
The Revolutionary Government of the Republic of Cuba had denounced, in a Declaration recently released, the escalation of pressures and actions by the Government of the United States to prepare a military adventure disguised as “humanitarian intervention” in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, and it called on the international community to mobilize to prevent it from becoming a reality.
It is indispensable to remember that similar conduct and similar pretexts were adopted by the United States in the prelude to the wars they launched against Yugoslavia, Iraq and Libya, at the price of immense loss of human lives and enormous sufferings. He adds that the U.S. Government is trying to eliminate the major obstacle represented by the Bolivarian and Chavista Revolution to the exercise of imperialist domination over “Our America” and to the dispossession of the Venezuelan people of the planet’s first certified oil reserve and other large and strategic natural resources.
“The sovereignty and dignity of Latin America and the Caribbean and of the peoples of the South are decided today in Venezuela. The survival of the norms of International Law and the Charter of the United Nations is also decided there. It is defined whether the legitimacy of a government emanates from the express and sovereign will of its people or from the recognition of foreign powers,” the text states.
The Revolutionary Government – the document affirms – reiterates its firm and invariable solidarity with the Constitutional President Nicolás Maduro Moros, the Bolivarian and Chavista Revolution and the civil-military union of its people, and calls on all peoples and governments of the world to defend peace.
