Cuba and China strengthen bilateral bonds

The director general of Bilateral Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Emilio Lozada, began today a working visit to China, according to an office of Prensa Latina.

Cuba and China have repeatedly expressed the will to develop bilateral relations, which include the political parties, parliament, trade, finance, military, scientific and cultural areas, among others.

The two nations maintain a fluent exchange of reciprocal visits of high-level authorities, and coincidences in matters of bilateral and international interest, while expanding their areas of cooperation.

China is Cuba’s first economic partner in Asia, and the second at global level. Chinese electronic and mechanical products of high quality are present in homes on the island, while in that country the demand for items such as sugar, rum, tobacco and seafood from Cuba is growing.

Lozada’s visit to China takes place in the context of his tour around Asia, during which he participated last August 16 in the 50th Pacific Islands Forum, Tuvalu 2019, where he ratified the Caribbean island’s commitment to deepen ties with the Pacific region.
