Cuba and Angola to strengthen political relations

Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz, vice-president of the Council of Ministers, received this Friday morning Mr. Frederico Dos Santos e Silva Cardoso, Minister of State and head of the Civil House of the President of the Republic of Angola and Co-president of the Intergovernmental Commission Cuba-Angola, one more moment to strengthen political relations.

This visit is part of the work program developed in the context of the upcoming visit to our country of the President of Angola, Joao Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço.

During the meeting they exchanged on the current state and perspectives of bilateral cooperation, recognizing the progress achieved in the implementation of the actions agreed in the 14th Session of the Intergovernmental Commission held in Luanda, last April.
That meeting focused on significant sectors such as Health, Education, Higher Education, Water Resources and Energy and Mines, in which Cuba has cooperated with Angola sistematically.

Both parties welcomed the intention to sign during the visit of the President of Angola, Joao Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço, several legal instruments that will strengthen relations between the two countries.

Vice President Cabrisas highlighted the importance of this presidential visit which will mark a milestone in political relations, collaboration and brotherhood between the two nations.

Accompanying the Minister of State, Víctor Manuel Rita da Fonseca Lima, Secretary for Diplomatic Affairs and International Cooperation of the President; Esmeralda da Silva Mendoza, Director of America of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Antonio Direito, Assistant to the Minister, and José César Augusto, “Kiluanje”, Ambassador of the Republic of Angola to Cuba.

Also present on the Cuban side were Ileana Núñez Mordoche and Rafael Jimeno López, deputy minister and director of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, respectively; Carlos Martínez Rodríguez, executive president of Corporación Antex, S.A., and Esther Armenteros Cárdenas, Cuban ambassador to the Republic of Angola.
