21st Habano Cigar Festival in Cuba starts today

The Habano Cigar Festival, considered to be the largest Premium cigar festival in the world, begins today at Havana’s Convention Center with representatives from some 70 countries in attendance.

The event, which reaches its 21st edition, includes an associated fair, where the most outstanding novelties around cigars will be presented.

The program pays tribute to the best tobacco in the world, and to the Premium Habanos brands, which are made entirely by hand.

It also includes an international seminar and visits to plantations and factories, so that the visitors can learn about the process involved in the tobacco industry from the ground up.

The tobacco plantations of Vuelta Abajo, renowned for the quality of their crops, will serve as a living example to also illustrate the traditions involved in this sector, deeply rooted for centuries on the Island.

On this occasion, among the cigars presented, Havana’s San Cristóbal gains special prominence, as it commemorates its 20th anniversary, in the context of the capital’s preparations for the advent of its 500th birthday.

The Hoyo de Monterrey and Trinidad brands are also honored, both objects of great prestige and recognition in the Habanos S.A. portfolio.

The 21st Habano Cigar Festival will close its doors on February 22nd, with an official announcement in which humidors made by the most experienced Cuban craftsmen will be auctioned.

The proceeds from this activity, already traditional in the festival, are destined to the Cuban public health system.
