Ricardo Chacón, featured radio broadcaster in Contramaestre II

Ricardo Chacón Rubio, transcends by the quality of his works in Radio Grito de Baire de Contramaestre.

Q: Do you feel any feedback in what you do?

A: Of course I do. The people who listen to the programs, express their opinions when they see me on the street, we have a very critical audience. Just as they praise you when what they heard is good, they also tell you that it didn’t work, or it could be better. That helps a lot to enhance work quality, quality is a daily commitment.

Q: And how do you achieve improvement today?

In recent times the improvement through the institution has declined a lot, the opportunities for improvement scheduled by the ICRT has greatly diminished. Before, and I am talking about the 1990s, when we had more problems of all kinds, especially economic, however, there were more opportunities to upgrade. But I have to admit that when a systematic upgrading was guaranteed by the ICRT, we all took advantage of it for the sake of perfection. I have to thank my institution very much for my work quality today.

Q: What about the collective, does it influence your improvement or not?

A: Yes, I came to a collective who loves to do their work better and better. Something very good is that healthy competition that exists in the collective, and you want to keep constantly focused on improvement, and not stay behind.

Q: ¿Programs that have marked you forever?

A: Two programs: Sin Ensayo, which is transmitted from Monday to Saturday. It is devoted to the young people. It demands constant updating, according to the dynamics of young people, such as specialization; you have to be the radio announcer that most resembles young people. It requires a lot of effort. And Veraneando, which is released only during in the summers (July and August), in which I have had the opportunity to break routines, in which I’ve had the opportunity to break routines, meet new people, do different things that are not normally done on regular radio broadcasts.

Q: Have you participated in radio events?

A: Always. I used to have more participation; I was more active in that sense. Both as an announcer and director, even as a sound director.

Q: Awards?

A: El Noticiero (“Newscast”) has won a relevant award for star newscasts. I’ve also been awarded for historical programs in municipal and provincial events. And I have participated as a broadcaster in programs that have won national awards.

Q: The Key to success?

A: The constancy, the upgrading, the permanent commitment with the listeners, the concern that what you did well today, tomorrow you must do better. Always think that the work should not only be beautiful, attractive, but also useful to society.

Q: If you were born again, what would you be?

A: A radio producer, undoubtedly.
