Puerto Rican salsa singer Jerry Rivera will soon sing in Cuba

Puerto Rican singer Jerry Rivera will offer a concert in Cuba on February 20, invited to the Fourth Salsa Festival, announced today the musician Maykel Blanco, main organizer of the event.

Known on the island for hits like Cara de niño (“Child’s Face”) and Amores Como el Nuestro (” Love like ours”), the artist will be accompanied by his orchestra and will share the stage with the local groups Bamboleo and Haila María Mompié.

Rivera began his musical career at the age of 16, he has nearly twenty albums and he has collaborated with well-known international artists.

The Salsa Festival, which will take place from February 19 to 24 in Havana’s Parque Metropolitano, will also bring together the country’s leading dance music orchestras and renowned DJs from Spain, Germany, Italy and Slovenia.

José Luis Cortes and NG la Banda, Issac Delgado and his group, Adalberto Álvarez and Su Son, Alexander Abreu and Habana D’ Primera, and Los Van Van, to whom the appointment is dedicated for its 50 years of creation.

Organized by the Carnival Company and the Provincial Direction of Culture of Havana, with the support of important institutions of the island, the event will also be dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of the Cuban singer and composer Benny Moré.

According to Blanco, the purpose of the festival is to promote and make known in the world the salsa music produced today in Cuba, as well as dance and other artistic manifestations.
