Children in Contramaestre invigorate Cuban culture
Contramaestre was the venue for the First Provincial Encounter of Children’s Projects and Community Initiative. This is an acknowledgment to the fact that children from this municipality invigorate Cuban culture.
This is a full expression of how the well-being of the youngest is an inherent purpose of the Cuban social system. In addition to Contramaestre, as host, other territories from Santiago de Cuba province took part in this encounter: Songo La Maya, Julio Antonio Mella, Tercer Frente, and Palma Soriano.
The defense of the cultural values of the Cuban nation, manifested by the children, had its expression in varied projects of rescue of artistic manifestations: music, dance, theater and plastic arts.
With the possibilities offered by Jose Marti’s work, the participants in the First Provincial Encounter of Children’s Projects brought laughter, joy and cheers on different settings.
Attendance at this gathering included a broad representation of children between the ages of five and 13. With demonstrative character and for the experience interchange, the meeting itself gave samples of how much of dedication supports the preservation of our identity and the sociocultural development in Santiago de Cuba province.
Members of the projects “Empinando Sueños” (“Flying Dreams”), “La Colonia” (“The Colony”), “Los Cangrejitos” (“The Little Crabs”), “El Hormiguero” (“The Ant Hill”) and “Sueños y Alegrías” (“Dreams and Joys”) also participated. These went to the public to demonstrate the assimilation of the knowledge that the organisms of Culture and Education contribute, with limited resources but with much love for children.
As article 79 of the new Constitution refers to, the first edition of the Children’s Projects of Community Initiatives became another expression that in Cuba “everyone has the right to participate in the cultural and artistic life of the nation.
